I have been here for about 2 months and I get it. I get why people live here. The west is the best! The mountains stare at you everyday. When the sunsets, it sets over the mountains. When you drive to work, bam, they are there. When you go to the grocery store, bam, they are there. When you walk outside to take the trash out, bam, they are there. From the window of my house, I have a direct view of the mountains. When I get things set up in Boulder, I will be able to hike anytime I want. I can bike to Chautauque Park and hike the flatIron Trail within 2 hours. I could be staring down at Boulder from an elevation of 7132 feet, with a beer in my hand, within 2 hours.
During the winter, the day time temperature in Boulder is around 45-60°F. When it snows, it melts within a few days.You don’t get that in the east… Other than the snow days, it has been mostly sunny con un poco de viento. I can not wait for the summer here. I will be hiking every chance I get, no doubt.
There is literally no humidity and the air is so clean. If you ever get the chance to come here, try taking a deep breath and tell me how it feels. People need to get the appeal of the west. They have no idea.
