About two days before I took my flight, I had no idea what I was going to do, and I still don’t. I booked two days in Cancun, just to get me started. Two days to understand the culture, how to act, and what to watch out for. As for planning those two days….. ya no, I like to go with the flow.
I just want to do a sequence of events to keep my mind clear here:
Julio de 21st: I worked three overnight shifts prior to leaving on my plane. After the last one, I went back to my house and had some coffee and sorted out my bag. While I was doing this, I had a few beers and then a few more. I am going on holiday, I could not resist. I was just going to have a few… about an hour later, I was at the liquor store with my roommate. We decided to have a little party….
Before I knew it, I was sitting in our little pool a beer in one hand and a joint in another. Yes that’s what it is all about… I called Maria up and asked her if she wanted to come over early, and she did. I told her to bring her bathing suit and get the hell over here. Once she came over, we ordered a pizza end went to liquor store once more. Yes once more…. It was ridiculous. After I came back, I ended up taking a nap with Maria. Before we knew it it was time to go…. I had her drop me off at the bus station to take the bus to the airport as opposed to her driving me. It was solid, I still wasn’t ready but what is done is done. I was off to the races now!!!
Julio de 22nd: I arrived in Mexico at 6 en la Manana, went through security and found myself pondering where the bus station was. I first went to the arrivals area but there was no information. Then I made my way to the departures. That was where the fun began. A taxi guy said that he could get me to Cancun center for 300 Pesos. I said no, and asked where the bus was, he said the bus is not coming for a long time, and that I had to walk 30 minutes to the station. I went inside and found a security guy. I asked him about the bus. He said 8:15, so I sat down and had a coffee while I waited. I met a woman that was from Denver, Colorado, she was really nice. After about an hour, I made my way to the ticket area which was on the arrivals side… yes it is bullshit. I bought the ticket and waited.
