Well that happened. It was cloudy on the 4th peak. All that work for a cloudy ending to the adventure…. I ran into trouble after the hike. I didn’t bring a mask so I couldn’t get on the bus, so I walked. The bus wouldn’t have brought me too far anyway. I asked for a ride from a few people but covid…. so I continued walking. A Lift from that point would cost $20.00…. I refused. I walked about 2 miles on the road until I realized that was stupid. I stopped at a gas station, grabbed a celebratory beer, and waited for my Lift….
While I was waiting in a parking lot, the sun came out and the mountains looked beautiful… Just hours before I couldn’t even stay at the top of the mountain without shivering, and now I was waiting in the parking lot sweating my ass off. Looking at the mountains that I just climbed in cloudy, cold weather just a few hours earlier.
Enjoy the journey, because a freeway may be at the top of the mountain, or in my case a lack of sun.
At this point, I stared up at the mountain and smiled. Got to love what life throws at you. Sometimes timing isn’t right.
I caught the sunset on another mountain though… And it was beautiful.
