The Moving Experience

It is easy to move when you do not have a lot of things. I fit everything in my Volvo. I think the move took about 45 minutes in total. Most of things I own fit into my travel bag and my day trip bag. However, I have found that when I settle in to places, I tend to collect junk. When you live in one place for a while, things tend to accumulate. With that being said, I try to limit the things I buy and keep. If you a buy a shirt, throw away a ratty one.

I guess when you travel for as long as I have, you realize what is actually needed in life and what is not. No you don’t need 7 different soaps and a facial scrub. You need one universal soap (hair, body and face) and thats it. You do not need a thousand shoes, you have your going out shoes, your project shoes, you flip-flops and your hiking shoes (maybe a set of crocks too). I don’t really own a lot of clothing either, because again, what percent do you actually use?

Now that I am in the Promise Land, I think I might start collecting more things. Here is a list of things that I want: 2 bicycle, some board games, hiking shoes, a motorcycle (in time), plants for the house, a toaster, and a rocking chair, yes a rocking chair so I can rock on my porch and stare out at the mountains.
